The American dream comes true for first time buyer in Battersea

Since moving to the UK from America in 2016 to study floristry, Business Office Manager, LeAnn, initially located herself in chic south west London, where she rented a ground floor apartment in Lurline Gardens. Now married, LeAnn, an interiors enthusiast, felt reluctant to make any more improvements to a home she didn’t own, so decided to embark on her journey into home ownership.

Discussing her experience, LeAnn explains: “I loved living in my flat in Lurline Gardens but after numerous renovations, which I had to pay for myself, I decided that it was high time that I invested in my own place, which I could design to my own taste.’’

LeAnn and her husband Gustavo were very keen on staying in Southwest London and the surrounding areas where they had lived together since their wedding in 2018. They began their search at a development in Battersea, but the couple quickly realized that their budget wouldn’t stretch far enough in this popular London location. A quick re-think and google search led them to Windsor Apartments, a new development offering homes through shared ownership, which happened to be located above LeAnn’s gym, which she visits regularly.

They booked a viewing on September 17th and immediately reserved an 11th floor two- bedroom apartment with stunning views over their beloved Battersea Park. The couple were able to move into their home on December 15th, with Myko their pet Jack Russell Chihuahua, and have since been busy settling in and enjoying the location. LeAnne comments: “It feels like a hotel we never want to check out of!”.

LeAnn adds: “Moving into our new home has been an absolute dream and the shared ownership scheme has allowed us to buy in this amazing location. Every aspect of our home is perfectly suited to our needs. The kitchen feels spacious and comes with modern integrated appliances, which we didn’t have in our previous apartment. The balcony is really impressive and enjoys uninterrupted views over Battersea Park. We have also been appreciating the other practical touches at Windsor Apartments, like the secure elevators and key fobs, and clean surroundings. It’s also really convenient to have underground parking available in such a central location.’’

LeAnn has also been able to apply her interiors style to her new home, inspired by the show home at Windsor Apartments. She explains: “I really loved a lot of the pieces featured in the show home here and have based our design theme around the show apartment, using inspiration from the interior designers.’’

Living in the heart of Battersea, the couple has also been making the most of their new neighborhood, from walks with Myko in Battersea Park, visits to the local pub, The Mason’s Arms, and frequent visits to the Battersea Power Station for shopping and dining. The newly opened Tube Station and existing excellent transport links in Battersea make travelling around the city for work and pleasure easy. LeAnn explains: “My commute is just minutes by public transport and on sunny days Myko and I can even walk.”

Discussing their future at Windsor Apartments, LeAnn and Gustavo who bought a 25% share of their property with a 15% deposit from savings concluded: “We’re planning on staying here long-term, so we’re hoping to staircase and own more shares here.”

Prices at Windsor Apartments start from £158,750 for a 25% share, full market value £635,000. For more information, visit www.windsorapartments-sw11.co.uk
