Shared Ownership delivers serene views for nature loving Mother and Daughter

Single mother Ewa (40) and her daughter Carmen (5 ½) have recently moved into a two-bedroom Shared Ownership property at Liberty Wharf by Clarion Housing. Overlooking the Grand Union Canal, the home has provided Ewa and Carmen with a haven alongside the varied amenities of West London.

Discussing her purchase, Ewa explains: “After separating from my partner, it was important for me to create a stable environment for my daughter and I knew that the first thing I needed to do was find a space for us to call home. I am a Credit Controller, so have always been good at saving for a rainy day, which meant that I had money to put towards a deposit, all that remained was finding a spot that suited our lifestyle and was affordable. When I discovered Liberty Wharf, I immediately knew we had found our home.”

“As soon as you enter the courtyard, you’re transported to a space that is peaceful and serene, it doesn’t feel like London. The scenery is beautiful, and there is always something to look at. For us, being close to a natural environment has always been important – it helps to ground us and reset our mental state, so when I saw the abundance of nature here, I was immediately interested.”

“Being one of the first to purchase at Liberty Wharf meant I had the pleasure of choosing our plot from a brilliant choice of apartments and aspects. I knew that I wanted to have an outlook of the canal and luckily I managed to secure an apartment with long ranging views from the balcony. Having space for friends to visit as well as room for Carmen to play was a priority.”

“From our balcony we can watch the most beautiful sunsets and my daughter is always pointing out different birds. At Liberty Wharf, every day is an adventure” continues Ewa. “We walk to school along the canal and often stop to feed the birds or pick flowers, it’s part of our routine and sets us up for the day ahead. I never thought I’d be able to purchase a home that ticked every box, but thanks to Shared Ownership I have been able to, it really is a fantastic scheme.”

Since moving in this March, Ewa has been busy making the home her own. She explains: “Thankfully, lockdown restrictions have eased since we have moved in and our friends have been over for coffee or to relax on the balcony. They’re all really impressed with my home, they say I have done well as a single mum to secure such a beautiful apartment in a beautiful location! I have agreed with work that I will continue to work remotely, I put my music on, watch the birds and look at the canal, it makes me productive – I can’t imagine being in an office again!”

“My daughter has already customised her room” Ewa expands “I wanted to make sure that she felt settled here, so that was the first room we decorated. It has a pastel coloured theme and she loves it – I am thrilled to have created such a happy and healthy home for her.”

“Also, a huge regeneration plan is underway here in Alperton, which means there will be new shops and restaurants opening nearby. In the meantime, the local area has plenty to keep us occupied and Ealing Broadway and Wembley are also nearby. I am a homely person, so I am at my happiest when I am at home in my own environment.  This apartment definitely enriches our lives and reflects my style of living, so makes that even easier!” concludes Ewa.
