Mrs Lourdes Cumlat, who works as a senior nurse at the Whittington Hospital, lives in one of the large duplex apartments at Cannon Road, with her husband Christopher and their three children.
Before moving there in mid-2015 they lived in a smaller property in Enfield. They wanted to upscale to suit their growing family and live closer to work, but had the financial challenges many people in the same situation face.
“We wanted to get a bigger property as our previous place was a little too small but Shared Ownership seemed the only way to get a home in the area as large enough as we needed, as the open market was too expensive”, explained Lourdes.
While researching the area online they came across the website for Newlon’s Cannon Road development.
Cannon Road is a high-specification development on the site of a derelict former rubber factory on Tottenham High Road, close to Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium at White Hart Lane.
The site includes communal roof gardens, electric vehicle parking points and a primary school built in partnership Tottenham Hotspur FC. A unique aspect of the scheme is the 22 storey tower entirely dedicated to Shared Ownership Once they visited the scheme Lourdes knew it was the place they wanted:
“We were really impressed with the quality of the place. It’s really big and the views are great. Plus it’s very near public transport which makes our journey to work quicker than where we were, as well as close to the schools”.
Their overall experience of getting a Shared Ownership property with Newlon was a positive one, which Lourdes was really pleased to have the opportunity to take advantage of:
“Newlon were flexible in how they dealt with us, and were very responsive when we needed to contact them,” she said. “From making the application to getting the keys only took a matter of months. It was great that we had an alternative to buying on the open market.”
